There are a lot of options available for placing a recommender carousel on your site. To help you out, we’ve created a breakdown of the best placement based on the webpage you place your recommender on.
Note: Remember, carousel recommenders will affect the layout of your pages. If you do not want the layout of your pages changed, consider using a popup recommender instead.
The sticky widget is the perfect recommendation page layout. Regardless of which page the visitors are browsing on the e-commerce website, they can always see the recommendation space presented by the sticky widget.
Homepage currently only supports recommendation page layouts with Pop-ups and Sticky Widgets. These layouts are primarily designed to provide new visitors with recommendations of popular and representative products, grabbing their attention.
Where to place a carousel recommender on your product page depends on how many products your store has and if/how customers can filter products by categories.
If you have a lot of products on your site, you may want to place your recommender carousel at the top of the page. This will allow a customer to see items recommended for them as soon as they navigate to your products.
If you have a category filter to the left of your site, when there is already a banner above the product list, you can place the carousel between the top banner and the product lists.
If you have only a few products in each category, you may place the recommender at the bottom of the page. Customers will not have to scroll to see recommendations if there are not that many products in each category.
You can also opt to add a popup recommender in product list page to give alternative browsing options for your customers.
When placing carousels on the product detail page you need to consider the product description length.
If a product has a long description, you may want to place the carousel above the description. The Similar Products recommendation often works best in this location, it encourages customers to continue purchasing highly relevant products.
For products with short descriptions, you can place carousels at the bottom of the page.
Note: Some online platforms have a built-in "Related/Similar Products" section on the product details page. Remove or hide it through your ecommerce platform's store editor. This will help customers focus on the personalized recommendations you set up for them with Rosetta AI.

The best location for a carousel recommender on the shopping cart (or checkout) page, is at the bottom of the product list. The Frequently Bought Together recommender tends to get great results in this location, as it lets customers add items already preferred to the cart quickly.
It is not recommended to place the carousel within the built-in add-on section of your ecommerce platform. This placement can cause confusion for your customer and lead to a poor user experience. Remove or hide the built-in section through your ecommerce platform's store editor. This will help customers focus on the personalized recommendations you set up for them with Rosetta AI.
If your website includes custom pages, you can also add recommendation spaces to your custom pages based on their specific needs, similar to the features mentioned above.
In the next chapter, we will provide detailed instructions on how to create your personalized product recommender.
