Create a Custom Recommender

For more advanced and granular control, you can also create a fully customized recommender by clicking Create a custom recommender on the bottom right of the window.

After clicking the Create Custom button, you will enter the Recommender Editor.

When creating a custom recommender from scratch, you will be able to select your own combination of recommendation type, layout and page placement.

Step 1: Name Your Recommender

At the top of the page, click the pencil icon next to New Recommender to create a custom title.

It’s good practice to give your recommenders descriptive titles so that you remember what they are at a glance. You can add dates and campaign info as necessary.

For example, if you’re going to place a recommender on your website homepage and have it recommend the most popular products for a campaign period of summer 2022, you may use a title like this: Homepage - Popular - Jun-Aug 2022

Step 2: Select layout style

Based on your recommendation needs, select layout style from "In-page", "Pop-up", or "Sticky Widget". You can proceed to the following sections to learn more:

Step 3: Select the best page

Based on your recommendation needs, select layout style from "Site-wide", "Homepage", "Product List Page", "Product Details Page", "Shopping Cart Page" or "Custom Page". You can proceed to the following sections to learn more:

Step 4: Select the best position

Different layout styles require choosing the display position for each recommender. The options are as follows:

1. Recommendation position settings for On top of page

   • Scroll-to-Trigger: Scroll to 25% of page, Scroll to 50% of page, Scroll to 75% of page, Scroll to 100% of page

   • Bottom left popup, Bottom right popup, Right-edge tab, Center popup: No need to select the position and would required to set Step 6: Select a Trigger Settings

2. Recommendation position options for In-page Products: Top, Bottom.

3. Recommendation position options for Sticky Widgets: Left edge, Right edge.

Step 5: Select the Recommendation Type

Select the best type based on your recommendation needs. You can proceed to the following sections to learn more:

Step 6: Select a Trigger Settings

If you selected the layout style "On top of page"(Bottom left popup, Bottom right popup, Right-edge tab, Center popup), you will need to set when the recommendation will trigger the recommender:

AI-driven: Let our Hesitant Customer Detection algorithm find the most effective timing.

Static: The promotion will pop up immediately when customers enter the page.

If you chose the layout styles "Page Product" (carousel), "Sticky Widget" and "Scroll-to-Trigger" of On top of page, you do not need to configure this setting.

Step 7: Design

You can choose the layout design from two default styles:

1. Minimal (White background + Black text)

2. Dark (Black background + White text)

You can also create a custom recommendation slot that reflects your brand. Click on the Advanced Options.

You can design the background, title, products, and sales information according to your preferences.

Each adjustment can be previewed in real-time on the right panel. The default presentation for product recommendations is primarily designed for desktop. If you want to preview your product carousel on a mobile device, click the phone icon above the preview panel. You can return to the desktop preview by clicking the computer icon.

Once you have finished editing, please click Next.

Step 8: Check

You can review your recommender in the right panel. You have 3 options for next step:

1. Publish your product recommendation on your website. Click "Publish immediately” to let product carousels be displayed on your website for customer to browse.

2. Save the recommendert as a draft. Click "Disk” icon to save the recommender and the settings which easy for your editing and review in the future.

3. Save your product carousel as a template to use as a default template for future designs. Click "Paper” icon to save the recommended placement as a template.

Congratulations! You have completed the Recommender!

We recommend you to clear the cache of the web page first before checking the page to see if the recommendation placement is published well that were set earlier. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our customer service!
